A Temporal Process Model for Web Multimedia Applications
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, we report our experience in developing a temporal process for web multimedia applications. Multimedia is a general term for applications which make use of various information media, such as audio, video, animation, images and text in an integrated presentation. Systems which run such applications can be centralized or distributed. We identify the principal strengths and weaknesses of both multimedia application and process sensitive systems as software systems and workflow management systems. We make some proposals to improve web multimedia applications. The philosophy behind the development of this kind of application is that they are process sensitive systems. This means they should be built on top of a powerful process model enacted on commonly used infrastructure. The web was chosen because of its generalization, low-cost and easy to use principle. The paper presents the process model in the form of an extensible object oriented framework with special emphases on temporal operators for activity synchronization.

Temporal Consistency among Five-sensory Events: Application to Multimedia Technology
While transmitting multi or fivesensory information after transduction, the concept of temporal consistency becomes an important issue at the receiving end from the point of view of context. Any violation of temporal consistency among the different decoded sensory information can lead to a failure of context, thereby making the multisensory system ineffective in creating unified percept and bri...
متن کاملSemantics of Temporal Media Content Descriptions
The temporal structure of multimedia content is an important aspect of the description of time-based media and needed in many applications. Expressive content description languages, such as MPEG-7, provide tools for describing the temporal decomposition of content into segments. Although the semantics of temporal decomposition are apparent, the validation of the semantics of the temporal decomp...
متن کاملA Process Environment Supporting Web Multimedia Information Systems
The Web is widely considered as a reliable and promising approach to design new information systems in various application areas such as geographical information systems. A flexible and interactive control of user actions and interactions must be implemented to ensure system consistency and make its evolution easier. The Web environment does not provide such a control. Combining both works from...

Although Service-Oriented Architectures (SOAs) were not designed for multimedia processing, they speed up the development of distributed multimedia applications by allowing the composition or reconfiguration of existing services. For example, the Business Process Execution Language for Web Services (BPEL) is a powerful tool to orchestrate, model and execute workflows. However, due to its proces...
